How it works
How booking care abroad works
A short explanation of each step, from searching for care to the invoice you can use for insurance follow-up. This page is educational only — nothing on it books, holds or charges anything.
Steps
- Step 1
Search where you are and the care you need
Choose your destination first and then the care you need. Available services differ by destination, so you only see what is supported where you are.
- Step 2
Compare and choose your appointment
Compare supported provider information, available appointment times and prices, and see the total price before you continue.
- Step 3
Add traveller details
Enter the traveller details needed for the appointment. If you have travel insurance you can add those details as well; insurance is optional and is never required to book.
- Step 4
Payment within two hours
After you confirm, payment must be completed within two hours. If payment is not completed in that time, the booking request expires and no appointment is confirmed.
- Step 5
Your itemised invoice after the appointment
Your itemised invoice is available after your appointment is completed and the invoice is generated. Reimbursement depends on your insurer and policy.
One or two travellers
An appointment can be booked for one traveller, or for two travellers when the appointment example supports it. Three or more travellers need separate bookings.
Insurance is optional
You can book with or without travel insurance. Adding insurance details does not change the price you see, and Health4Travel does not guarantee that your insurer will reimburse a claim.
Not an emergency service
Health4Travel is not an emergency service. In a life-threatening situation contact local emergency services first.
Common questions
- How do I book a doctor while travelling?
- You can search for available medical services by location and service type, choose a provider, and complete the booking through Health4Travel. For now, the booking flow links to the Health4Travel customer platform.
- Can I see the cost before booking?
- Yes. Where pricing is available, Health4Travel shows the cost before you book, so you know what to expect before confirming your appointment.
- Will I receive confirmation by email?
- Yes. After booking, you receive relevant appointment information and confirmation details by email.
- Can I get documents for insurance reimbursement?
- Yes. After your appointment, you receive receipt/invoice documentation that can be used when submitting a claim to your travel or health insurance provider. Reimbursement depends on your insurance policy.
- Is Health4Travel an emergency service?
- No. Health4Travel is not an emergency service. For life-threatening or urgent emergencies, call local emergency services immediately.
- Can telehealth doctors issue prescriptions?
- Where available and legally applicable, Health4Travel works with local medical providers who may be able to issue local prescriptions. This is an important difference compared with generic cross-border telehealth services.
